Persepolis intrigued Alexander; he pillaged, robbed and removed vast treasures using 5,000 camels and 20,000 mules. Alexander thoughtlessly burned Persepolis to the ground. Along with it, he destroyed human culture, history and knowledge.It was considered to be a thoughtless and unnecessary act.Whet be died on June 13, 323 B.C., smoke was still rising from the smoldering ashes of Persepolis.
