I hope you enjoy this book of poems. The poems are simple enough to elicit conversation. Great for discussions in classrooms for middle school and above. It is a perfect classroom collection, great for small groups, and or perfect for a gift. In this Hispanic Book for Teens and Adults, I have written poems that represent my Chicana culture. Growing up Mexican-American had a deep effect on how I saw and continue to see the world. I hope that readers of these poems can make connections and discuss their thoughts and either agreements or disagreements with the poems. After all, you grow through discourse. This book contains colorful pages filled with vivid words depicting life as a Mexican-American in the States. Some topics are the struggles faced, our traditions, immigration, Abuela's cooking, being a strong woman, and more. The use of Spanglish is used as it represents who I am as an educator, author, and person. The hope is that you will connect with my words and keep your own culture and tradition going strong and even spark conversation with your loved ones. Grab a copy of this poetry book.
