Erie County NY" 1883 by Erasmus Briggs Rochester NY by Union and Advertser company The index includes all names found in the biographical section of the book, not just the heads of house hold. Painstaking care has been given to list every name in the original book. The list consists of over 6000 names. Most of the families in the index list in-laws, children and their spouses and some even list grandchildren and grandparents. The library of Congress has the book on line. It is very easy to view. The page numbers listed for each family in this index can be typed into the search bar on line and the page found quickly. You will find that most of the family pages are filled with wonderful tidbits of that family's history, such as where and when these people came from, some military history, where their farms or business were located, and much more.
