Whispers of the Lake is the tenth in the series called A Volume of Poems. They were written while I was sitting watching the winds move across the surface of the lake. It was inspired by a Native American booklet of poems from the Red Cloud Indian School. The school is on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in a remote part of South Dakota. It was established in 1888. The booklet is entitled Whispers of the Lakota. I encourage all peoples to read their wonderful poems as they reached deep into my own soul. Their simple words and sacred art can be found on their web site. www.redcloudschool.org May you find your own poems and share them as the Lakota have done. Enjoy.
