Reseña del libro "Wayside (en Inglés)"

A world no one has ever walked on. An orchard someone planted a thousand years ago. Forty-one days beyond the edge of charted space lies Wayside: a living world of gold skies, cold lakes and long foggy autumns, with not one trace that anyone has ever set foot on it. Dr. Renata Achebe has come to make sure it stays that way until someone has looked at it properly. With fourteen volunteers from the small, stubborn communities of the Haven frontier, among them a hydroponics grower, a retired miner, two young metalworkers and a woman who knows how people behave when things go wrong, she sets out to learn the world before anyone decides what to do with it. No flags. No claims. Nothing goes into the ground that can’t come out again. Then, from orbit, Achebe notices a narrow valley in the northern hills where the morning fog will not settle. At the head of the valley stands a stone, very faintly warm. Below it, running down the slopes in long, patient rows that follow every contour of the land, are trees heavy with fruit. Someone planted them. Someone tended them. And someone, a very long time ago, cut their own words into the margins of a script that was never theirs. Far away, the ancient presence that has kept this world for longer than humans have existed is finally able to speak. And it remembers seven visitors who came, and stayed some years, and went home, and never came back. As the expedition stretches from one season into three years, the people of Wayside have to decide what they owe to a place, and to the strangers who loved it first. Wayside: Not Ours is a hopeful, character-driven novel of first contact, quiet wonder and stewardship. It stands on its own and needs no prior reading, and it is also a companion to the Haven series.
