Tungula's Gift is the last short story written by Abelardo, one of Latin America's most revered composers and writers. It also is the first of his tales to be translated into English. In Tungula's Gift, Abelardo blends his magical experiences as a boy in 1937 on a journey to the hacienda at Batán Grande with the legends and mysteries of the Sicán people who constructed the enormous complexes of pyramids in northern Peru long before the Spanish conquest.
