Reseña del libro "Through the Magic Shed: A Grand Adventure Lies Ahead! (en Inglés)"
Through the Magic Shed is about travel and discovery, one inspired by a 20-year study conducted by Dr. Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at Cornell University. The conclusion: Don't spend your money on things. Any happiness we enjoy from buying things is short-lived. Experiences, however, live on in our hearts and minds forever. It's never too early to teach children that lesson, as Lia and Cooper learn when they explore America. From the Grand Canyon to the Everglades, the rhyming prose and colorful illustrations capture the many wonders found right in our own backyard.Reviews"Cooper, the German shepherd of "Don't Give Up on That Dog" fame, returns in this delightful, educational picture book featuring a lesson that we can all appreciate. Mrs. Phillips uses her unique, charming way with words to craft a delightful narrative of adorable child Lia and her faithful dog Cooper as they explore some of the United States' most fascinating landmarks. With beautiful, colorful illustrations and a poetically informational story, "Through the Magic Shed" reminds us all, young and old, that the true value in life is not in the things we accumulate but rather the adventures we experience." "I loved the message in this book - get out and experience new adventures and make memories that will last forever. How exciting for Lia and Cooper to visit some of the most beautiful parts of the country and learn about history, as well! This book will spark discussions between the reader and the child about places the child would like to visit and things the child would like to see. I also think it would encourage a child to learn more about some of those beautiful places. I loved that the book has a glossary, a map, and other reference notes for the readers to discuss with the child. The story is well written and fun, and the illustrations make it come to life! I would recommend this book to anyone with a young child...." "Good children's literature can help to teach important lessons without being preachy. 'Through the Magic Shed' offers glimpses of beloved American landmarks, with words and illustrations that help plant the idea that there's more to life than toys and other physical possessions....""Collect moments, not things. That message is central to my parenting style and this story echoes it throughout. Upon reading Lia's adventure, kids will want to go find their own too. A fun read for all!"
