Albert Camus (Mondovi, Argelia, 7 de noviembre de 1913 – Francia, 4 de enero de 1960) fue un novelista, ensayista y filósofo francés, cuya trayectoria lo consolidó como una de las figuras clave del pensamiento y la literatura del siglo XX. Su infancia, marcada por la humildad y el entorno colonial argelino, influyó profundamente en su visión del mundo y en su estilo literario. Tras estudiar filosofía en Argel, se trasladó a Francia, donde desarrolló una prolífica carrera tanto en el periodismo como en la literatura.
Camus es autor de títulos emblemáticos como El extranjero, La peste, La caída y El mito de Sísifo, obras que exploran la condición humana, la libertad y la búsqueda de sentido ante el absurdo. Aunque vinculado frecuentemente al existencialismo, él mismo rechazó dicha etiqueta, moviéndose entre el humanismo y posturas filosóficas propias.
