When we study an event, juncture or historical process, it is inevitable, in my opinion, to consider the totality, understood as a holistic reconstruction of the past, which is nourished from different dimensions, becoming visible thanks to the contribution of different humanistic disciplines. The totality, as Pierre Nora put it, is that history that goes beyond the political and economic to confront the study also from the social and human. From this paradigm, the new history advocated by the Annales in the middle of the last century and later the splitting of social history and its decanting towards cultural history, is the approach chosen for the present research.within the cultural creation in our country appears an enormous phenomenon, the Chilean Nueva Canción. Emerging in the early 60's, during the last century, it emerges as a cornerstone in the creation of new forms of folklore, linked to portray the social from the different political and economic situations of the time.
