Benjamín Labatut (Róterdam, 1980) es un escritor y periodista chileno cuya obra ha sido reconocida internacionalmente por su singular exploración de los límites entre la ciencia, la historia y la ficción. Radicado en Santiago de Chile desde su adolescencia, cursó estudios de Periodismo en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile antes de lanzarse a la literatura con La Antártica empieza aquí (2010), una colección de cuentos que mereció el Premio Caza de Letras y el Premio Municipal de Literatura de Santiago, marcando el inicio de una carrera prometedora.

Su consagración llegó con Un verdor terrible (2020), un libro aclamado por su innovadora fusión del ensayo narrativo y la ficción, donde examina las vidas de científicos atormentados por los límites del conocimiento y la genialidad. Esta obra, seleccionada finalista del International Booker Prize en 2021 y destacada por The New York Times como uno de los “100 mejores libros del siglo XXI”, lo posicionó como una voz imprescindible dentro de la literatura contemporánea.
