The Lost Years (en Inglés) - Sheila Nugent

When Sheila fell pregnant in 1972, the idea of keeping her child and raising it as a single mother was almost unheard of, and actively discouraged by the conservative religious community in Northern Ireland. Reluctantly, she gave the baby up for adoption, a decision that would haunt her for decades to come.

The Lost Years chronicles Sheila's struggles with guilt following the adoption and explains the culture of shame back then. It was a secret she kept, even from her own children, until she was finally reunited with her estranged child almost fifty-two years later.
