Reseña del libro "The Life Of Pythagoras (en Inglés)"

The Life of Pythagoras is a biographical account of the famous Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, written by the ancient Greek philosopher Iamblichus. The book provides a detailed and comprehensive overview of Pythagoras' life, teachings, and philosophy, drawing on a range of sources including ancient texts, oral traditions, and personal accounts. The book begins with an introduction to Pythagoras' early life, including his birth on the island of Samos, his travels to Egypt and other parts of the world, and his eventual establishment of a school of philosophy in Croton, Italy. Iamblichus then delves into Pythagoras' teachings, which were based on the idea that the universe is governed by mathematical principles and that the soul is immortal and capable of reincarnation. Throughout the book, Iamblichus explores Pythagoras' various contributions to mathematics, including his famous theorem on right-angled triangles, as well as his ideas about music, astronomy, and ethics. He also discusses Pythagoras' influence on other philosophers and thinkers, including Plato and Aristotle. Overall, The Life of Pythagoras provides a fascinating insight into the life and teachings of one of the most important figures in ancient Greek philosophy and mathematics. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of philosophy, mathematics, or ancient Greece. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1918 Edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
