In the Hidden Gospel Harding shows how the teachings of Jesus make sense in scientific terms - including some teachings that sound plainly untrue, or at best metaphorical. Douglas Edison Harding (1909–2007) fue un filósofo y místico inglés, conocido por su enfoque innovador hacia la conciencia y la percepción del yo. Tras una experiencia transformadora en 1943, desarrolló el concepto de "headlessness" (sin cabeza), una metáfora para describir la experiencia directa de la no-dualidad y la ausencia del ego. Este enfoque se convirtió en el núcleo de su enseñanza espiritual y filosófica.
