The setting is Coastal Maine, a hamlet of secrecy and bizarre happenings. Paul, the protagonist, entered the priesthood with the idea he could save souls, but could he save his own soul? His heterosexual past experiences hinders his church requirement of celibacy. Catholicism has its demanding rules for which Paul's libido becomes a problem, and struggles against the nature of man. His eye for beautiful women triggers his forbidding rule put onto him by the church. Conflict after conflict puts himself against him and God. Paul wonders if he has made the right choice. He and his secretary becomes prime suspect in a murder. This small Maine island and its people becomes a beehive of hate, sex and an infectious life style and it's not the way life should be, at least not for a Catholic priest.
