Cuthbert, the protagonist of the tale, is a young Englishman who travels to the Holy Land with King Richard. There, he engages in a battle with an adversary page on behalf of his master, advancing himself in the nobles' eyes; endures servitude at the hands of ruthless Palestinians; makes several daring escapes; acts with great chivalry; and, finally, engages in a successful battle, later on, to reclaim his stolen inheritance while also saving the young damsel of his dreams, to whom he is engaged. Overall, a terrific tale full of action, romance, suspense, humor, and bravery. A regular reader of Robin Hood will undoubtedly enjoy The Boy Knight: A Tale of the Crusades, one of the more thrilling Henty adventures.
