Cummins, uno de los fotógrafos más venerados del mundo, estudió su oficio durante cuatro años antes de sumergirse en la floreciente escena punk de Manchester en los años 70. En las décadas siguientes, capturaría imágenes definitivas de Joy Division, tomaría fotos en vivo y retratos de David Bowie, y crearía una portada que marcó una época en NME con The Stones Roses.
