Reseña del libro "Secret Society of the Willbrook Witches (en Inglés,)"

Andrea’s first year at university gets off to a strange start when she discovers she may be a witch!

“A perfect balance between teenage struggles and a dash of magic, this story makes me wish I was best friends with the girls in Rosemary and Toad.”—Vivian Zhou, creator of the Atana graphic novel series

Introducing a cozy coven of YA witches...Andrea is nervous to start university in the small town of Willbrook. Introverted and shy, she’s living away from home for the first time and finding it hard to fit in. When Andrea meets Elaine and Sybil, they quickly welcome her to their group. Andrea might have finally found her people, but they have a huge secret…they’re witches—and they think Andrea is too.

As Elaine and Sybil teach her how to harness her powers, she finally starts to feel like she belongs. But the girls learn there’s another witch on campus, and this one might not have good intentions. Soon, Andrea learns that the world of magic is much bigger than she imagined.

Book One of The Willbrook Witches

Andrea is beginning her first year at university when she discovers she has magical powers and is welcomed into a coven of young witches.

Key Selling Points:

A new group of witches is here to capture the attention of the teen reader who's ready to move on from the Witches of Brooklyn series and grew up on reruns of Charmed. Will also appeal to the adult graphic novel fan who reads lighthearted fantasy.
A light, modern take on witchcraft, The Secret Society of the Willbrook Witches is also a relatable coming-of-age story about the experience of moving away from home for the first time to go to university and the anxiety of an introvert making new friends.
Book one in The Willbrook Witches, a new graphic novel series for teen readers. Book two, originally published in French as Maude et le spectre, is forthcoming in English with Second Story Press in Winter 2027.
The story follows college freshman Andrea, who learns from her new friends, Elaine and Sybil, that she is a witch like them. Each character is compelling and unique, just like their different abilities and affinities to magic.
Originally published in French as SOS Sorcières by Éditions Bouton d’or Acadie, a French Canadian publisher based in New Brunswick, The Secret Society of the Willbrook Witches is Camille Perron-Cormier’s first book translated into English. Fluent in both French and English, Perron-Cormier not only wrote and illustrated the book, but also did the translation herself.
Camille Perron-Cormier has also illustrated several French children’s books with Éditions Bouton d’or Acadie, including Sous mon bateau, Dans ma boite à diner, and Adieu, Jacoby! She has a lot of experience running comic workshops for kids in French, and she is excited to run workshops for English speakers as well.
Illustrated primarily in grey scale, with pops of the different colours linked to the magic of each character. The graphic novel has a background theme of eco-feminism. Andrea has always had a ‘green thumb’, and feels a connection with nature. When Andrea realizes that the trees on campus have been infected with a mysterious curse, she has to learn to use her magic to help them (and find out who’s responsible before it’s too late!).
