In his first game in Shea Stadium, Devon 'D Jack' Jameison's career ended. Seven years later, in the year of the Bicentennial, D Jack finds himself providing a wide-range of services for the rich and famous at the Presidential Country Club. While the story in Book I chronicles D Jack's escapades from Thanksgiving through New Years, the central focus is that of a struggle with his day-to-day life and his attempt to rekindle a failed relationship with Samantha, his high school sweetheart. In Book II, D Jack's relationship with Samantha becomes complex due to an unorthodox arrangement and his shift from the golf course to the ball park as he assumes the responsibility of managing the new Double AA Miami Mets. During this time, he and Samantha gradually undergo a change from a simple to more complicated relationship but an unexpected incident will force D Jack to face his biggest challenge which in turn will determine the future path upon which he will travel.
