John Ruskin (Londres, 8 de febrero de 1819 - Coniston, 20 de enero de 1900) fue un influyente escritor, crítico de arte y reformador social británico del siglo XIX. Su obra abarca una amplia gama de temas, incluyendo arte, arquitectura y economía política.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "Pintores modernos" (1843-1860), una defensa del paisajismo contemporáneo; "Las siete lámparas de la arquitectura" (1849), donde establece principios fundamentales de la arquitectura; y "Las piedras de Venecia" (1851-1853), un análisis profundo de la arquitectura veneciana.
