Reseña del libro "Potassium fertilization in guava trees (Psidium guajava L.) (en Inglés)"
Among the nutrients extracted by guava, potassium is the most important, being of great importance in the vegetative and reproductive development of the plant. The objective of this study was to determine the accumulation of potassium and development of reproductive branches of Paluma guava trees grown in northern Minas Gerais. We worked with a guava grove, testing different doses of K. The activities began with drastic pruning, followed by selection of main branches and fruit pruning. In the laboratory, the reproductive parts (flower buds or fruits) and vegetative parts (stem and leaves) of the reproductive branches were analyzed for K levels and content. In general, the characteristics evaluated in the reproductive branches of guava trees showed a similar pattern in response to potassium fertilization, regardless of the K dose. The branches elongated little after the 60th day of their emission, but only after the 90th day was there a significant increase in characteristics such as fresh mass and fruit diameter. The highest concentration of K in the stem and leaf was 0.38 dag.kg-1, at a dose of 135 g.bimestre-1 of K; in the fruits, plants with 0 and 90 g.bimestre-1 of K accumulated an average of 0.47 dag.kg-1 of K.
