John Williams (1922-1994) fue un escritor y profesor estadounidense, conocido por sus novelas de ficción literaria. Su obra más reconocida es Stoner (1965), una novela redescubierta años después de su publicación y considerada una de las grandes joyas de la literatura del siglo XX. También es autor de Butcher’s Crossing (1960), una historia ambientada en el Oeste americano, y Augustus (1972), una novela histórica que le valió el National Book Award.
