John E Mack, psiquiatra de Harvard, ganó el premio Pulitzer por su biografía de T E Lawrence, A Prince of Our Disorder, de 1976, y ganó fama y notoriedad por su bestseller de 1994 Abduction: Human Encounters with Aliens. John siempre se preocupó por las causas sociales, especialmente las amenazas nucleares y el medio ambiente humano, además de creer en las abducciones extraterrestres. El Dr. Mack fue el director fundador del Centro de Estudios Psicológicos en la Era Nuclear y participó activamente como miembro de Médicos por la Responsabilidad Social y de Médicos Internacionales para la Prevención de la Guerra Nuclear.
