Reseña del libro "Lecturer Factors Predicting Students' Interest in Mathematics: A Structural Equation Modeling Approach (en Inglés)"

Why do some students develop a strong interest in mathematics while others struggle to engage? This book examines how lecturers' pedagogical content knowledge, professional development and continuous learning, and lecturer-student relationships influence students' interest in mathematics in colleges of education in Ghana's Ashanti Region.Grounded in Self-Determination Theory and Guskey's Teacher Change Model, it explores how effective teaching, professional growth, and supportive relationships foster competence, autonomy, relatedness, engagement, and interest. Using a quantitative survey of 300 students, the study applies Structural Equation Modeling to examine these relationships.Findings show that all three lecturer-oriented factors significantly and positively predict students' interest in mathematics, with professional development and continuous learning having the strongest effect. The book concludes that sustaining interest requires strong pedagogical competence, continuous professional learning, and supportive lecturer-student relationships.
