This is Joan Hill's fourth book about family history. This book focuses on the family members named Jabez. There were 13 of them in the family line, starting in England in 1805. The Jabez name starts in England in the Burns family line and continues in America and then into the McPherson family line. Most of the men named Jabez have unique stories. Two of the English Jabezes were prominent Temperance ministers. The first Jabez to come to America was an inventor and made a substantial impact in the coffee industry. The Jabezes in the McPherson line were part of the pioneer movement that settled areas of the United States and Canada. They helped establish communities and took an active role in politics and government.
