In addition to being a set of very challenging puzzles for private individuals to solve, Irish Acrostics has also been designed as a cooperative learning activity for Intermediate and Senior High School classrooms. What follows is a sample lesson plan: Students work in small groups using electronic devices as learning aids to solve each of the puzzles cooperatively. The teacher provides one copy of the same puzzle for each group who then provide correct answers for the starting questions followed by: a) Discussion of the solution excerptb) Written assignment to followc) Marks awarded for each group for order of the classroom finish of the correct solutiond) Individual marks for the written assignment Questions in each puzzle include the following topics: Irish geography, culture, personalities, landmarks and important individuals from ancient and modern Irish History. Irish Acrostics is meant as an adjunct for Irish studies in Ireland and the rest of the world.
