The hidden purpose in all this was to strike such a devastating blow to the mortal enemies of Western freedom that it would eliminate the unrest and obstruction that has been the source of years of frustration in the Middle East and terrorism throughout the world. The belief is that eliminating Islam, would thereby guarantee the peace and safety of all citizens and the free world for several generations! The second reason was to open up the region and its rich oil deposits to foreign development - and profits. The novel explores the consequences of the great Sunni - Shiia conflict and it's potential to impact the rest of the world.
