But he is afraid they will be expecting to see the young and fit person they knew in high school, not the overweight person he has become. And so begins a series of hilarious attempts by Grandpa to lose some of the extra pounds he put on over the years.Readers watch as Grandpa goes on the 7 O'Clock Diet, the Throw It Away Diet, the Eat Only When Your Stomach Growls Diet, and even the Dark Chocolate Diet. It is only after enlisting the help of his two grandsons that Grandpa loses any weight, and even then it is not enough to make much of a difference.Grandpa goes to the reunion determined to hide the fact that he has a big tummy. The important lesson he learns after he arrives comes as both a surprise and a relief. Readers young and old will laugh at Grandpa's silly antics and will identify with his insecurities.
