this book has developed out of a research project undertaken by the author exploring peoples experiences of recruitment and selection. it relates the stories of people involved in both sides of the selection process (applicants and selectors). an opening chapter provides details of the study, including an explanation of the methods and a summary of the findings. each further chapter relates three stories on a particular theme, such as person-organization fit, lawful and unlawful behaviour, successful interviewing, personality and intelligence testing, and assessment centres. following each story, there will be an analysis and a series of learning points demonstrating the key lessons for practitioners and students. at the end of each chapter there will be a short section relating the stories to current recruitment and selection literature, thus providing the underlying theory for readers.
