Cousins Aspen and Ireland Glover live on Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk, Virginia, on a produce and dairy farm. This summer, no thanks to their grandmother, Fiona, the Glovers are expecting a guest from overseas.

Opening their home to an exchange student caught the Glover family off guard, especially Aspen. Giving up his summer vacation to cater to another teenager had disaster written all over it. His cousin Ireland was a handful by herself.

Aspen looked forward to hanging out with his uncle. Their plans included hiking in Roanoke Valley, a jazz concert, and a national college swim meet in Richmond. He mainly anticipated the opportunity to learn great cooking skills from a professional chef in a week-long class his uncle scheduled for them.

A foreign exchange student didn't fit those plans, but the Glovers had no choice. For seven weeks, they must host an applicant from the UK. The exchange program depended on families like the Glovers.

Aspen resented the commitment his family was obligated to accept. He didn't like Beaumont, but not because of the obligation. It went beyond that. The boys' personalities were exact opposites.

What a mix-matched pair! Aspen considered Beaumont a spoiled, arrogant, and lazy guest. Beaumont's opinion of Aspen wasn't pleasing either. He thought Aspen was an anti-social nerd.

The Glover cousins and Beaumont find themselves in a chaotic situation where they must band together and learn to trust each other. The children formed a friendship that they'll treasure forever.
