Seit 1991 ermitteln die Frauen ihre weltbeste Verbandsauswahl. Wettbewerb für Wettbewerb erhöht sich die Zahl der Nationalmannschaften, die um den Einzug in die Endrunde kämpfen. Zur jüngsten Weltmeisterschaft, 2015 in Kanada, hatten 129 Landesverbände für die Qualifikationsspiele gemeldet. Rekord.
