Reseña del libro "Diary of a Backwoods Preacher: Stories My Granddaddy Told Me Including Civil War Stories (en Inglés)"

As a young boy, my Grandad, Oscar Henderson, would entertain me by telling me stories. There was no such thing as TV back then and the only other source of entertainment was radio. I went to live with my Grandparents when I was about one year old, shortly after a car accident which killed my Dad. My Grandad always wanted to have his stories published, but after numerous submissions and an equal number of rejections, he was never published. This book is dedicated to my Grandfather, who was a Church of Christ preacher, thus the name "Diary of a Backwoods Preacher." All of these stories were told as the "gospel truth" and so, I wrote them that way. You can make your own determination about which of them may have been slightly embellished. This is NOT a novel. Each story is very short and each has some amount of humor. When Grandad told his stories to me, he always was very animated and entertaining. Grandad always liked to pull jokes and have fun, which he often did at other people's expense. He laughed, but often they were not amused. Some jokes, especially those pulled on my Grandmother, often got him into a heap of trouble. When my Grandad pulled a joke on a person, he gave himself away by a silent snicker which was evidenced by the twitching of his nose as he tried to subdue laughter. You will learn why my Grandad stopped kneeling when he prayed. You also will learn how he ruined my Grandmother's Easter hat, as well as how he accidentally ruined his own Sunday hat. Boy, did he ever get in trouble one cold day when he found a bird trapped inside the house. An April fool joke got Grandad one day. Learn what happened when Grandad found an old lady with a gourd drinking cup. He also experienced a widow Lady with a scripture quote, "Behold, you have brought nothing into this world, and it is certain you will carry nothing out!!" Learn why Grandad swore never to let Santa Claus bring another toy squeaking rabbit. Learn how his sister was very upset with him and then relieved when the rabbit got away. You will learn about Grandad's encounter with Clyde of the Bonnie and Clyde and how he lived to tell about it. These are just a few of the stories you will read. Grandaddy, you are published.
