Barbara Ann Brennan se graduó en Física en 1962 en la Universidad de Wisconsin y obtuvo su máster en Física atmosférica en la misma institución. Trabajó como investigadora en el Goddard Space Flight Center de la NASA, puesto que abandonó para dedicarse de lleno a su vocación de sanadora. Estudió con Eva y John Pierrakos hasta convertirse en Pathwork Helper y graduada en Core Energetics. Barbara Brennan ha dedicado más de 35 años al estudio del campo energético humano y sus libros Manos que curan y Hágase la luz se consideran fundamentales en el ámbito de las terapias complementarias. Con 'Sanación esencial' la autora cierra su trilogía de luz. Como resultado de su trabajo desarrolló la Brennan Healing Science, una modalidad de sanación holística basada en el sistema de energía-conciencia humanos y su relación con la salud y la enfermedad.
