Reseña del libro "Colonial and Decolonial Explorations: The Chinese Context and Beyond (en Inglés)"

One pressing issue in geopolitics today is the contest between America and China – the former is the hegemonic power while the latter, the rising superpower, is perceived as challenging that status. However, this contest between the West and the East is not new as its roots can be traced back to Kant who held that "Philosophy is not to be found in the whole Orient". The West, since then, has held non-European systems of knowledge (in philosophy, science/medicine) as sub-standard/inferior.The contest is presented as liberal democracy (America) versus autocracy (China) which is over-simplistic. A more nuanced, objective/scientific approach is required. Democracies do not necessarily score better overall and autocracies score worse. The picture is much more complex when subjected to critical scrutiny in terms of specific metrics of governance. This book is intended for post-graduate students in business management, CEOs, diplomatic corps, and the curious public. All big libraries should stock copies. Read more
