In the 1930s C. G. Jung embarked upon a bold investigation into childhood dreams as remembered by adults to better understand their significance to the lives of the dreamers. Jung presented his findings in a four-year seminar series at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Children's Dreams marks their first publication in English, and fills a critical gap in Jung's collected works. Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) fue un médico psiquiatra, psicólogo y ensayista suizo. Estudió medicina en Basilea y comenzó su carrera en la clínica psiquiátrica Burghölzli de la Universidad de Zúrich, donde fue asistente de Eugen Bleuler.

En 1907 conoció a Sigmund Freud, con quien tuvo una estrecha colaboración inicial, llegando a ser presidente de la Asociación Psicoanalítica Internacional en 1910. Sin embargo, en 1913 rompió definitivamente con Freud por diferencias teóricas, especialmente sobre la naturaleza de la libido y el inconsciente, y creó su propio marco teórico: la psicología analítica.

A Jung se le atribuyen más de quince obras, muchas de ellas fundamentales para la psicología analítica y la exploración profunda de la psique. Entre los más destacados figuran: Psicología de la demencia precoz. Psicogénesis de las enfermedades mentales, La psicología de la transferencia, Psicología y simbólica del arquetipo, Arquetipos e inconsciente colectivo.

Durante una crisis personal conocida como su "noche oscura del alma", elaboró el Libro Rojo, en el que plasmó sus visiones y reflexiones profundas, y que sirvió de base para su enfoque sobre el alma y la psique humana.

Su labor revolucionó la psicología, integrando antropología, mitología, religión, alquimia y filosofía en el estudio de la psique, y tiene una gran influencia tanto en la psicoterapia como en los movimientos culturales.
