The time of this docunovel is 1986 I have retired with the rank of Detective 1st . Inspector Plato Gomez retired in 1986 (under protest) because of injuries suffered in a gunfight. He had a spinal fusion. We had a mutual dream of going private. He got the business established; I heard he had to promise that I, would be following, to get some clients but that just a rumor you understand. We didn't expect to be working together as much as we had for the past two decades. What follows is what happened when I got there. Ships in the desert passing in the night. There once was a man names Harry Karafin. In 1967, Karafin, then fifty-one and a respected investigative reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, was exposed as having used his position to extort Philadelphia area businesses.
