CAAS – Centre Agro-Alimentaire Siby. Die Architektur / The Architecture / L’architecture (en Alemán) - Wieland Schmidt

Im Süden Malis sind zwischen Siby und Kalassa seit 2018 mehrere Einrichtungen für das Entwicklungshilfeprojekt CAAS entstanden. Ein Campusgelände dient zur Schulung junger Frauen in kleinbäuerlichen Produktionstechniken, ein landwirtschaftlicher Betrieb zur praktischen Ausbildung und Produktion. Ergänzt werden die Bauten durch Einzelmaßnahmen für Schulbildung, Sport, medizinische Versorgung und Infrastruktur. Die Publikation dokumentiert das Projekt des Münchener Büros Wieland Schmidt Architekten vom Städtebau bis ins Detail und erläutert, wie es die klimatischen Bedingungen des Sahel einbezieht. Externe Beiträge beleuchten die Entwicklung des Gesamtprojektes, liefern baugeschichtliche und soziologische Einordnungen und zeigen, dass die Planungen das Dorf weit über die Grenzen des Campus hinaus prägen.

In southern Mali, between Siby and Kalassa, several facilities for the CAAS development aid project have been built since 2018. A campus serves to train young women in small-scale farming techniques, while an agricultural enterprise provides practical training and production. The buildings are complemented by individual measures for school education, sports, medical care, and infrastructure. The publication documents the project by the Munich-based firm Wieland Schmidt Architekten in detail, from urban planning to details, and explains how it takes the climatic conditions of the Sahel into account. External contributions shed light on the development of the overall project, provide architectural and sociological context, and show that the plans are shaping the village beyond the boundaries of the campus.
