Reseña del libro "Breast Cancer: Assessment of Malnutrition among Chemotherapy Nave and Experienced Breast Cancer Patients: A Comparative Cross-sectional and longitudinal.DE (en Inglés)"

Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy and a leading cause of cancer related death among women worldwide, with 2,261,419 new cases reported in 2020 and accounting for approximately one quarter of all female cancers. Although incidence rates are highest in Western Europe and North America, BC is increasingly common in developing countries, driven by rising life expectancy, urbanization, and lifestyle changes. Improvements in early detection, surgery, and adjuvant treatment have markedly increased survival in high income settings; however, many patients in sub Saharan Africa continue to present at advanced stages due to limited awareness, reduced access to healthcare, and the absence of organized screening and diagnostic programs. The global prevalence of malnutrition in patients with neoplasia has been reported to range from about 40% to 80%. However, nearly 20% of cancer patient deaths are attributed to malnutrition and its complications rather than the malignancy itself. In Ethiopia overall, cancer accounts for approximately 5.8% of total national mortality, with a high proportion of deaths occurring in women and breast cancer among the most common fatal.
