Just as an infant learns to walk and a supermodelmasters the catwalk, so must a Christian learn to walkperfectly with God. This is not a choice but a requirementfor all believing Christians that love the Lord. If yousincerely love the Lord, you will obey him. The wordChristian simply means "a follower of Christ." If we areto carry that emblem, we must be true followers of Christand not by name only. The world judges by the outwardappearance of man, but God looks at our hearts, and youcannot manipulate or swindle Him. If we are chargedin court for being a Christian, would there be enoughevidence to convict us without any doubt? Do you haveone foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom ofGod? Though we live in this world, we are certainly notpart of this world. Jesus Christ spoke to the Pharisees andscribes in Matthew 23:23 saying, "Woe to you, Scribes andPharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and aniseand cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law." In other words, it is not enough to say I pay my titheand attend church regularly and think my walk with God iscomplete. Jesus went further to explain in Matthew 23:23saying, "These you ought to have done, without leavingthe others undone." This means, yes, you are expectedto pay your tithe and offering, but that is not the end ofyour walk with God. Bringing our tithes and offeringsinto God's house is a scriptural injunction, but God ismuch more interested in our walk with Him, as we sawin the life of Enoch (Genesis 5:24). Our Heavenly Fathercraves for a personal relationship with us, knowing fullywell that our earthly currencies that are not being spent inheaven cannot suffice for our place in His heart. Jesus onlymentioned a few of the weightier matters such as justice, mercy, and faith, but to perfect one's walk with Him is alsoa requirement for believers; otherwise, he would not havecommanded us in Matthew 5:48 (KJV) when He said, "Beye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heavenis perfect." If you are to be called followers of Christ, thenyou must allow the Holy Spirit to perfect your walk withChrist. This is the premise upon which the Holy Spiritinspired me to write this book. It is not written to condemnyou but to wake believers who are in spiritual slumber. Weneed to be alert for we know not when the master will comelike a thief in the night. Over the years in my walk with theLord, I have learned to depend upon the Lord to completeHis work in my life. As you read this book, may the HolySpirit complete His perfect work in your life in JesusChrist's name.
