Reseña del libro "Ashmore's Nine (en Inglés)"
At Ashmore Hall, they say the lake takes one every generation. Wren Kavanagh just pulled the newest one out of it. For a hundred and thirty-eight years, Ashmore Hall has stood above cold Lake Sorrel and turned the children of the powerful into the people who run the world. Wren is not one of them. She is the waitress's daughter from the town down the hill, three years a scholarship outsider who has survived by reading a room she was never invited into. Then, one gray morning on the shore, she helps drag Sabine Ostrander's body out of the water. Sabine was a shining senior, one of the untouchables, and the school calls her death a tragic accident, lights its candles, and closes the doors. Days later, a plain black card slips under Wren's door. Ashmore Hall has a secret society: nine seniors, hand-picked and sworn to silence, the oldest and most powerful thing on the hill. Sabine was the ninth. Now they need a replacement, and they have chosen the one girl no family would ever come looking for. Wren says yes for a single reason: to find out who really put Sabine in that lake. Inside the society, Wren finds no curse. She finds a machine. Every generation, one of the nine is quietly made to fall, always ruled misadventure, always a member who had started to ask the wrong questions. Fourteen names. Fourteen graves the school has dressed as accidents. And the clock is already running down to the night that will call another one. The only person who sees what she is really doing is Theo Brandt, a boy on the wrong side of everything Wren is, and the one member of the society whose grief is real. Trusting him could get her the truth. It could also get her chosen next. Ashmore's Nine is a standalone young adult dark academia thriller: an elite boarding school, a secret society with a body count, a scholarship outsider who was never meant to survive it, and a slow-burn romance across a line drawn in blood. Clean and closed-door.
