Born into an American family in Japan, H.L. Liptak has been traveling ever since. With roots reaching back to the 17th century in South Carolina, she still considers herself a Southerner, though she now resides in Southern California with her husband and English bull terrier. She teaches history, leadership, and drama to middle school students-though no true middle school student has to be taught drama! Every year she and her students produce a full-length play with large ensemble casts that provide roles for actors of all talent levels and abilities. H.L. has completed a Harvard Graduate School course on the arts and passion-driven learning, presented papers on drama in education at California Association of Independent Schools conferences, and written IB interdisciplinary unit planners based on these plays. She has worked as a wardrobe mistress in professional theatre and researches, designs and creates many costumes for each year's production. Her two decades of experience show in the extensive research and notes that accompany each play in this collection.
