What begins in hesitation - a hand at the waist, breath at the nape, the shy insistence of a body offered and almost withdrawn - becomes a lesson in patience, heat, and the astonishing relief of being entered by someone already known. Afterward, the want does not vanish. It stays, bright and a little frightening, like a door left open in a house one is not sure one may return to. Some first times end. The best of them remain, unfinished, in the blood.
