Down on her luck and on the verge of eviction, Ann Foster lands a job as a wealthy widow's personal assistant. It's a live-in role that provides her with a place to stay in the guest house, and the job pays well. It seems like a wonderful opportunity, but Ann discovers a locked room in the guest house, and this begins to arouse her suspicions. As a secret past begins to slowly reveal itself, Ann tries to fit the pieces together.
