One winter morning in Seoul, Kyungha receives an urgent message from her friend Inseon to visit her at the hospital. Inseon has injured herself in an accident, and she begs Kyungha to return to Jeju Island, where she lives, to save her beloved pet—a white bird called Ama. Han Kang (Gwangju, Corea del Sur, 1970), ganadora del Premio Nobel de Literatura 2024, Su carrera literaria comenzó en 1993 con la publicación de varios poemas en la revista "Literatura y Sociedad".

Al año siguiente, ganó el Concurso Literario de Primavera de Seoul Shinmun con su relato "El ancla escarlata", marcando su inicio en la narrativa.. Es autora de La vegetariana (Random House, 2024; Premio Booker Internacional 2016), La clase de griego (Random House, 2023), Actos humanos (Premio Manhae de Literatura de Corea y Premio Malaparte en Italia en 2017), Blanco (finalista del Premio Booker Internacional 2018) e Imposible decir adiós (Random House, 2024; Premio Médicis Extranjero 2023).

La autora ha recibido también el Premio Yi Sang, el Premio Artista Joven del Año, el 25.º Premio de Novela Coreana, el Premio de Literatura Hwang Sun-won y el Premio de Literatura Dong Ri. Ha trabajado como profesora en el departamento de Escritura Creativa del Instituto de las Artes de Seúl hasta 2018 y en la actualidad se dedica por completo a la escritura. Su obra ha sido publicada en más de treinta idiomas.
