BARBARA W. TUCHMAN (Nueva York, 1912-1989) fue historiadora y periodista. Inició su carrera colaborando con publicaciones como The Nation, War in Spain o New Statesman, y posteriormente desempeñó una amplia actividad docente en instituciones como la Universidad de Harvard y la de California. A pesar de haber publicado diversas obras, la fama le llegó con Los cañones de agosto (RBA, 2012), galardonada en 1962 con el prestigioso premio Pulitzer. Otros libros suyos publicados en nuestra lengua son: Un espejo lejano. El calamitoso siglo XIV, La torre del orgullo, Cómo se escribe la historia y El telegrama Zimmerman, también publicado por RBA.
