Mark Granger agrees to the wealthy old man's plan without knowing the consequences. It wasn't an easy decision and yes euthanasia is illegal but it's what Tom wants and Mark won't actually have to kill him. Instead, he'll be part of a group brought together to help Tom when needed, as well as share his fortune - providing they can find it. As long as everyone in the group can be trusted it will be fine.
