The present status of freshwater aquaculture and new technologies in the freshwater aquaculture has also been aptly dealt with. This book emphasizes the importance of aquaculture, components of earthen ponds, pre-stocking management measures like, eradication of predatory fishes, weed fishes, aquatic weeds, aquatic insects and fertilization, post-stocking management measures like feed and feeding and water quality. The culture practices of commercially important freshwater fishes are dealt in detail. The other important practices like cage culture, pen culture, sewage fed fish culture and organic aquaculture are also dealt. It is hoped that this publication presented in an easy-to-read style with a number of photographs and illustrations would be of great use to all students who have fisheries in their curriculum and also a standard guide for the researchers, entrepreneurs and fish farmers.
