Shon's story is a prime example. His mother is constantly trying to create a world of normalcy out of the chaos his father brings when a girl comes along and changes everything. Shon finds comfort in Amy and feels he has finally found what he needs to keep him sane in this life. Finally nearing adulthood, Shon and Amy begin to plan their lives together when tragedy strikes and sends their lives into a new whirlwind of instability. Shon finds himself looking at new ways of coping while his family finally begins to pull themselves together.
