Marisha Pessl es una escritora estadounidense nacida el 26 de octubre de 1977 en Clarkston, Míchigan. Estudió Literatura Inglesa en Barnard College y trabajó como consultora financiera antes de dedicarse por completo a la escritura. Su primera novela, Special Topics in Calamity Physics (2006), fue un éxito de ventas y recibió el premio John Sargent Sr. a la mejor primera novela. En 2013 publicó Night Film, traducida al español como Última sesión, que alcanzó el sexto puesto en la lista de best sellers del The New York Times y ganó el premio Shirley Jackson.

Pessl ha continuado su carrera literaria con obras como Neverworld Wake (2018), publicada en español como Eterna Vigilia, y Darkly (2024), un thriller psicológico juvenil. Sus novelas se caracterizan por combinar elementos de misterio, suspenso y referencias culturales, a menudo incorporando formatos no convencionales como documentos ficticios y material multimedia.
