He notes that Jesus taught us not to be too wordy with our prayer time when he said that heathens thought "they would be heard for their many words." Consequently, Short says, the same man who taught us not to be woo wordy gave us the words for a prayer -- the Lord's Prayer. Thomas C. Short is Senior Minister of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington, Delaware. His sermons are heard weekly over WDEL radio in Wilmington. He is the author of two previous books and has published in journals such as The Interpreter, The Christian Advocate, and Pulpit Digest, to name a few.
