This is a novel of a night of a pastor. Dr. Roy Arbuckle is a complete pastor, husband, and father. He knows the Lord Jesus may cleave the sky at any moment. He is energized by a toy hour glass given him by a child. His unsaved son lives far away, but he must go see the boy. It is late evening, but he sets out to drive through the night to confront the son one more time. His exhaustion is wearing heavily on him when he sees a truck wreck. He encounters a woman who has a kidnaped child in her possession. He is caught in a robbery at a convenience store, and faces a pistol muzzle. His chase of the kidnaper results in him being beaten almost to death. He has these adventures as he travels through the night, but sees his son only as he is being raptured up to meet Jesus in the air.
